Man shot, another stabbed in Alderney Landing incidents
Canada Day assaults occur as thousands watch concert nearby
Halifax Regional Police were called to Alderney Landing in Dartmouth after one man was stabbed and another was shot Tuesday night.
Both incidents happened near a large Canada Day concert, where thousands of people were watching performances on the Alderney Landing stage.
The first call for help came around 8 p.m. when police say a man in his 20s was stabbed in the playground behind the old Dartmouth City Hall.
Police said the victim had serious injuries. He was taken to hospital and released Wednesday morning.
About 90 minutes later, police say someone was shot inside 60 Alderney Dr. — an office building next to the concert venue.
The victim was carried out of the building by a friend. Police said the man was shot in the leg.
The shooting victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax and remains there with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have not made any arrests.
