Man sentenced in torture and kidnapping case
A 21-year-old Porters Lake man has been sentenced to 59 months in prison for his part in the kidnaping and torture of a 16-year-old boy.
Last November, Robin Grant Myers was part of a gang that snatched the boy and kept him tied up in a shed in East Chezettcook for 15 hours.
Myers pleaded guilty to unlawful confinement and aggravated assault early in the proceedings.
The court heard the teen was punched, kicked, flogged, beaten with sticks and burned with cigarettes and lighters. He had his head and eyebrows shaved by his tormentors who also threatened and berated the boy during the ordeal.
Provincial Court Association Chief Judge Pam Williams told Myers during the sentencing that the situtation was, "Deplorable and disgusting."
She said, "You have good reason to lower your head... This was a prolonged and continuous violent assault on a vulnerable victim in a group, mob, goon situation."
