Halifax Regional Police are investigating a shooting in Halifax after a man turned up at a hospital Wednesday night suffering from a gunshot wound.
Officers were called to the Uniacke Square area just before 11 p.m. after multiple people heard gunshots.
Shortly after that, staff at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre called to say a 23-year-old man had turned up at the emergency department with a gunshot wound.
He is recovering in hospital.
Halifax Regional Police said when officers arrived at the scene Wednesday night, a crowd of approximately 50 people was there. Police said the crowd was hostile and they arrested three women — one of them was shocked with a stun gun.
"Due to the level of aggression directed towards officers, multiple units were dispatched to the area to gain control of the situation," Const. Pierre Bourdages said in a news release.
The three women were later released from custody.
