A man pulled a knife on several youths sledding in Bedford, N.S., Friday evening, police say.

Staff Sgt. Reid McCoombs of Halifax Regional Police said at about 9:30 p.m., several young people aged 12 and 13 were sledding on a hill at Basinview Drive Community School. A man standing in the school parking lot told them to not use foul language.

Police say a “verbal dispute” started and the man ran over, grabbed two youths and threw them to the ground. He had a knife in his hands and threatened the youths, police reported.

Other adults arrived and the man ran away. Nobody was injured.

Police described the man as:

  • About 24 years old
  • Five feet six inches tall
  • Wearing black jacket, jeans and gloves, with white sneakers and a blue baseball hat with a white logo on the front
