A Nova Scotia man has died while trying to remove a tree from a property in Cape Breton on Saturday evening.

Cape Breton Regional Police say the 60-year-old man was hired to remove the tree from a residence on Burchell Street in Sydney Mines.

He was using his vehicle to remove the tree around 6 p.m. when he was struck by a piece of equipment.

The provincial Department of Labour is investigating.

The man's name has not been released.
