Halifax Regional Police say they arrested a man Friday in connection with a double stabbing on Gottingen Street in March.

20-year-old Maurice Edward Downey was held in custody over the weekend. He’s also charged with two counts of assault with a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon.

Downey is accused of stabbing two women in an apartment.

At the time, police said the women knew their attacker. They were both taken to hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
