Man accused of drunk driving, blowing 4 times legal limit
A man was arrested on Tuesday after his breathalyzer reading allegedly showed his blood alcohol concentration was four times the legal limit.
Enfield RCMP said they got a 911 call at approximately 4:55 p.m. from a motorist following a black BMW that was swerving and slowing on Highway 102 near Elmsdale.
Const. Les Kakonyi said the 51-year-old driver of the car, a man from Halifax, displayed strong signs of impairment and was arrested and taken back to the RCMP detachment.
At the detachment, the suspect was given a breathalyzer test and his readings were four times higher than the legal limit of 0.08, said RCMP. Paramedics were called to the detachment to monitor his condition as a precautionary measure, given the high readings.
