The Macdonald bridge crossing Halifax Harbour opened more than a day early during a scheduled weekend closure.

The bridge opened at 2 p.m. Saturday after the weekend's scheduled work was completed, as part of the Big Lift project to replace sections of the structure's deck, Halifax Harbour Bridges said.

The bridge is typically closed for weekend work beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, reopening at 5:30 a.m. Monday.
