RCMP put the brakes on a train this morning in Windsor Junction after a car was spotted on the right-of-way next to the tracks.

Police initially thought the car had been abandoned by a drunk driver. But they found the owner nearby, looking for a lost dog.

An oncoming train was slowed, while emergency crews figured out whether there was enough room for it to pass the car. There was, barely, and the train eventually chugged on past the silver Honda Civic.

The car was towed back to a path, so the driver could get back on the road.

Police said the man eventually found his dog.
