A 20-year-old Lake Echo woman has been charged with impaired driving causing death in a head-on collision that killed a 55-year-old man near Lawrencetown Beach in July.
Kyla MacLellan faces eight charges, including impaired driving causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.
She appeared briefly in Dartmouth provincial court on Wednesday and has been released on a promise to appear at a later date.
The July 10 crash killed 55-year-old Mark Burnett, who was on his way to work just before 6 a.m. when the sport utility vehicle he was driving collided head-on with another vehicle on Highway 207 near Lawrencetown Beach.
Two women, including MacLellan, were in the other car. Both women were ejected from the vehicle and sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Burnett was also transported to the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre but was declared dead on arrival.
