Halifax Mooseheads star and Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Jonathan Drouin suffered “concussion-like symptoms” in a hard hit Friday night.

The Mooseheads were playing the Quebec Ramparts. Drouin was checked from behind in the first period. He immediately left the ice and did not return.

“Drouin hit hard from behind by [Adam] Erne … Looks like Drouin may be cut as he's headed to the room,” the team tweeted via @HFXMooseheads.

The team later added that he was done for the night.

“Drouin [out] with concussion-like symptoms will be re-evaluated by team doctors again tomorrow,” they tweeted.

The video posted by Eastlink shows the hit.

The Mooseheads lost the game in a shootout.

Drouin is supposed to join Team Canada in a couple of weeks for the World Championships selection camp.

Drouin was the third draft pick for the NHL this season. But his new team, the Tampa Bay Lightning, has opted to send the 18-year-old back to the Q-league for one more year.
