Nova Scotia RCMP say a 29-year-old woman has turned herself in after a stabbing over the weekend in Indian Brook that seriously injured one man.

The woman reported to the Eskasoni RCMP detachment around 8:00 p.m. on Monday and was arrested. She was scheduled to appear in Sydney provincial court on Tuesday.

Indian Brook RCMP were called to a stabbing at 1:00 a.m. on Sunday that occurred on Eagles Nest Road.

A 33-year-old Indian Brook man had been stabbed at a residence.

"The only thing I can confirm is that we do have a suspect in the matter," said RCMP Sgt. Brigdit Leger. "I can confirm that this was not a random act. In this case, the suspect and the victim were known to each other."

The injured man was taken to Colchester Regional Hospital with serious injuries. He is expected to survive.
