An overturned salt truck on Highway 102 inbound Monday night sent the male driver to hospital with serious injuries.

The crash happened shortly after 9 p.m. just south of Exit 5, the Fall River exit.

RCMP believe fog, which reduced visibility to almost nothing, was a significant factor in the crash.

Police at the scene said the fog was so thick the driver couldn’t see where he was going.

The salt truck crashed on the median heading inbound.
