HMCS Toronto to join NATO in Mediterranean

Minister of Defence Robert Nicholson will announce the immediate deployment of Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) Toronto to join NATO Reassurance measures in the Mediterranean.

Minister of Defence Robert Nicholson will announce Thursday the immediate deployment of Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) Toronto to join NATO Reassurance measures in the Mediterranean.
 
HMCS Toronto will be replacing HMCS Regina, which has been part of Standing NATO Maritime Forces since May 2014.

The Conservative government redeployed the HMCS Regina in response to the Ukraine crisis, abandoning its anti-terror post in the Arabian Sea.

HMCS Toronto will be departing for the Mediterranean Sea from the CFB Halifax Dockyard with a ceremony Thursday at 10 a.m.
