Highway 101 between the Falmouth and Hantsport exits has opened after it was closed Thursday morning following a fatal crash that killed a 56-year-old Kentville man.

Nova Scotia RCMP say the driver, who was travelling east on the highway, died at the scene after a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer.

Officers shut down the highway between the Exits 7 and 8 after the crash, which happened at approximately 10:40 a.m. Traffic was diverted to Highway 1.

RCMP Sgt. Al LeBlanc said the man who died was driving a Hyundai. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
