Nova Scotia Power says heavy snow has knocked out power for thousands of its customers across the province.

Spokeswoman Neera Ritcey said says at the height of the snowfall late Saturday evening, about 14,000 customers were in the dark.

Ritcey says about 8,100 customers throughout Nova Scotia were still without power late Sunday morning.

She said 15 centimetres of heavy wet snow snapped tree branches and damaged power lines.

Ritcey said line and tree trimming crews are working to restore power, with most restorations times set for Sunday evening.
