Halifax's Oval is re-opening this weekend. Despite the chilly temperatures, it's not because it's cold enough to skate on ice, but instead for summer activities.
The Oval starts its summer season Saturday. It will offer inline and roller skating from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
"During these scheduled, monitored events, participants can borrow skates and all the required safety gear for free. Please note that a valid government issued photo ID is required to borrow skates and helmets," said Jennifer Stairs, spokeswoman for the Halifax Regional Municipality.
The Oval is always open for those who have their own equipment. Stairs noted that provincial law requires participants to wear a helmet.
