Halifax robbery suspect arrested at the scene of crime
Suspect facing robbery charges after threatening a clerk at the Rotary Esso
Halifax Regional Police say an alleged thief, who returned to the scene of the crime, has been caught.
On Monday around 10 p.m., police were called to the Rotary Esso, on Chebucto Road, in Halifax. Police say a man entered the store, threatened the woman working behind the counter and demanded cash.
The 23-year-old clerk told police she did not see a weapon but said she gave the man cash. The suspect then ran away.
Tuesday evening at 7:45 p.m., police were called back to the same Esso station, near the Armdale Roundabout. A staff member said they believed the person responsible for the robbery the night before had returned.
Police arrested a 34-year-old man without incident. Police say he has been positively identified as the suspect who robbed the gas station Monday night.
The suspect remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday to face robbery charges.
