Halifax Regional Police said the daytime attack appears to be random

Halifax police are investigating after a vehicle allegedly backed into a six-year-old girl in a Dartmouth parking lot Wednesday evening.

Const. Pierre Bourdages says the child's mother told police a commercial vehicle bumped into her six-year-old daughter in the parking lot of the Wyse Road Shoppers Drug Mart.

Bourdages says the accident happened around 5:30 p.m. as the vehicle was pulling out of a parking spot. Police say the driver did not stop. The woman was able to provide a description and plate number for the vehicle.

The girl wasn't injured.

No charges have been laid.
