A Halifax police officer faces criminal charges after a late-night traffic stop.
Cole Harbour RCMP stopped a private car at about 2:38 a.m. Monday, said Halifax Regional Police spokesman Cst. Pierre Bourdages.
The driver, Cst. Charles Bruce, was charged with impaired driving and having a blood-alcohol level that exceeds the legal limit. He was off duty.
Bruce has been with the force for 20 years, Bourdages said. He has been placed on administrative duties while the case is before the courts.
Bruce is due in court March 26.
