Metro Transit is launching its bus service to the Halifax airport on Thursday.

The route begins near Scotia Square in downtown Halifax. The bus stops at the Dartmouth bridge terminal, the new park-and-ride lot in Fall River and the Aerotech Business Park before the airport.

The bus will run every 30 minutes during peak hours on weekdays. Otherwise, service is every hour.

Metro Transit says the trip between downtown Halifax and the airport is approximately 50 minutes, while the complete loop with layovers is nearly two hours.

Tiffany Chase, a spokeswoman for Metro Transit, said the airport route is also a commuter service for Fall River residents to get to downtown Halifax.

The MetroX 320 bus will have racks for a couple of bicycles and limited space for luggage.

It's $3.25 for a regular fare and $100 for a monthly pass.
