Guysborough hospital renovation gets $4.4M from province
Multi-million dollar project to be fuinded, in part, by community
The Nova Scotia government is committing $4.4 million towards the multi-million dollar renovation of the Guysborough Memorial Hospital.
The announcement was made today in the community by Premier Stephen McNeil and Health Minister Leo Glavine.
Glavine says the renovation will allow the hospital to better handle a collaborative approach, with a nurse practitioner, a family practice nurse and other health-care providers.
The project will locate inpatient and emergency services together for safety and efficiency, improve the central nursing station and improve the registration, specimen collection and diagnostic imaging areas by making them more private.
The community is expected to raise additional funds and work is expected to begin once the fundraising is completed.
