Grass fires under control along Hwy 102 near Elmsdale
Several fire crews battle a series of fires along Nova Scotia Highway
Several fire departments were called to the side of Highway 102 between Elmsdale and Stewiacke Saturday afternoon after receiving reports of a grass fire.
A member of Elmsdale Fire and Emergency Services said it appears someone lit small grass fires alongside the road, between the highway and the woods.
Firefighters were able to get the fires under control, but some fires were still smouldering Saturday afternoon.
There is currently a restriction on burning brush due to hot, dry weather in the area where the fires broke out. There are also burning restrictions in Nova Scotia's South Shore, the Annapolis Valley, the Eastern Shore, and parts of Cape Breton.
