Girl, 6, dies in Cobequid Pass crash
Fatal crash has shut part of the main road between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick
A six-year-old girl was killed Monday evening after a serious crash on Highway 104 on the Cobequid Pass.
The girl died after the van she was travelling in collided with a tractor trailer on Highway 104, east of Exit 8. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Three others travelling in the van were injured in the crash and taken to Colchester County Hospital. It's not known how serious their injuries are.
"Preliminary investigation determined that the lone driver of a tractor trailer travelling eastbound collided with a van that was towing a utility trailer also travelling eastbound," said RCMP Staff Sgt. John Anderson in a news release.
There's a detour in place on Highway 104 at Exit 7, Thompson Station, with traffic being rerouted onto Trunk 4.
RCMP say the roads in the area are slippery and advise caution.
That east bound portion of the highway is expected to be closed for between five and seven hours.
