THE REAL DEAL

Gail Quigley's 5 best deals this week

The flyers are out for the week and many shoppers are already combing through the pages looking for the best prices.

The flyers are out for the week and many shoppers are already combing through the pages looking for the best prices. Here are Gail’s 5 best deals this week:

1. Wal-Mart

The very best deal in a long time is on right now at Wal-Mart. You’ll find Cascades paper towels or Satin Soft toilet paper on sale for $3.00. The price is better if you apply a $2.00 coupon which you can print online or in the column on the left. That drops your price to $1.00 plus taxes for a six-pack of paper towels. But act fast: the sale ends tonight.

2. Shoppers Drug Mart

Carefree and Stayfree feminine hygiene products are on sale for $2.79. There was a coupon in a recent newspaper insert that gives you $5.00 off any two items. That drops your final price to just 29 cents a package.

3. No Frills

My third favourite deal this week is at No Frills. They’re selling Black Diamond cheese in 300 gram packages for $2.47. Use the coupon that you may have found on a grocery store tear pad for 75 cents off and your cheese is $1.72. That’s a fantastic price.

4. Cineplex

My fourth pick this week doesn’t need a coupon. The new Cineplex theatres are holding a Community Day the morning of Nov. 16 and you can take your kids to the movies for free. They’re also offering some concession items for $2.00 each. Proceeds go to the Canadian Olympic Foundation. Doors open at 8:30 a.m., with movies starting at 9:00 a.m.

5. Atlantic Superstore and No Frills

My final pick this week is available at both Atlantic Superstore or No Frills. Spend $15 on any Glade products before taxes and get a $15 Superstore gift card back through the mail. You’ll find the coupon for this on the coupon board as you walk into the stores. This is a great deal — fabulous for Christmas baskets.
