The Fish Shop, one of the anchor vendors at the Halifax Seaport Farmers' Market, has closed.
"It has been a difficult couple of years trying to bring Halifax the very best seafood. I have decided to close the shop before signing a new lease with the Halifax Port Authority," owner Peter Boudreau posted on Facebook.
"I would like to thank our customers, staff, friends, family, fellow venders and the Halifax Port Authority for all of your continued support. It was one of my greatest pleasures to be at the market working with all of you, and you will be dearly missed."
"We don't like to see anyone leave. We were willing to work with him," said Julie Chaisson, manager at the Seaport Farmers' Market.
She wouldn't comment on why the market and the Fish Shop parted ways.
In November, the co-operative that runs the waterfront market finalized its formal surrender of the lease to the Halifax Port Authority.
