A suspicious fire destroyed two homes in Cape Breton Thursday night and threatened a third.

A suspicious fire destroyed two homes in Cape Breton Thursday night and threatened a third.

Police say the fire started around 7:30 p.m. and burned down two homes in Florence. One was abandoned. The second was occupied, but vacant Thursday. 

A third home is in danger of being destroyed. 

No one was in the buildings. Police say the blaze is suspicious and the fire marshal is investigating. 

Florence is 3.6 kilometres north of Sydney Mines.
