Fire destroyed a home in East Preston this morning. 

Fire crews were called to the home on Brian Street at around 1:30 Friday morning, but by the time fire crews got there, the flames were too intense to save the house.

Division Cmdr. Scott Shaffner says says the nearest hydrant is about one kilometre away. Crews also pumped water to combat the blaze from a nearby pond. 

No one was home during the fire and no injuries have been reported.

This is the second fire this month on Brian Street in East Preston.

Five Halifax fire crews responded to the call.
