Police say six to eight people were arrested early Sunday after several fights broke out at a downtown bar.

Halifax Regional Police were called to the Cheers/Dome building at about 3:30 a.m.

"There was a big fight," said Sgt. Ken Burton.

Burton said there were several fights inside and outside the bar and between 20 and 30 people were involved.

He doesn't have details, but it appears there were no injuries and no one was charged.

A police officer was injured outside the same bar early Friday.

He was chasing a man who had been in a fight. While trying to subdue the suspect, the officer injured his leg and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
