Fatal crash closes Hwy 103 for hours
Driver of car died at scene, truck driver uninjured
A 70-year-old Bridgewater driver has died after an accident involving a five-tonne truck Monday afternoon on Highway 103 near Liverpool.
RCMP Cpl. Scott MacRae said it appeared the man driving the car, heading eastbound, crossed the centre line and collided head-on with a truck just before 4 p.m.
MacRae said the victim, the man driving the car, was from Bridgewater.
The crash happened between Exit 19 to Liverpool and Exit 20A to White Point Road. That section of Highway 103 was closed for more than five hours as emergency crews were on the scene.
MacRae said a LifeFlight helicopter was called but the driver of the car died in the vehicle and the airlift was cancelled. The driver of the truck was not injured.
