CBC sets sail for Tall Ships 2017 as part of Canada 150 celebrations and will present free concerts, live radio programs and family fun with CBC Kids activities on both sides of Halifax Harbour during the Festival. The RDV2017 Tall Ships Regatta will also visit Sydney and CBC Cape Breton will be there as well.
CBC Nova Scotia will present free concerts from the CBC Entertainment Pavilion (Salter lot at 1521 Lower Water Street in Halifax) beginning on Friday, July 28 until Monday, July 31. Take in the Taste of Nova Scotia Food Fare by the Sea while you're there!
SPECIAL EVENT: Natalie MacMaster joins Symphony Nova Scotia on Saturday night for a foot-stomping, crowd-pleasing performance of down-home jigs, reels, and strathspeys. Then, the Elmer Iseler Singers perform with Symphony Nova Scotia to present a lush symphonic tribute to Canada 150, featuring some of the nation's best-loved and most popular songs – topped off by a surprise grand finale with cannons and fireworks. It's sure to be a blast!
Enjoy even more music along the waterfront at the CBC Pop-up Stages in Halifax and Dartmouth. There will be non-stop musical acts and performances featuring Nova Scotia artists from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday on stages at Sackville Landing and Alderney Landing Park.
Things kick off on Friday afternoon on Mainstreet with host Bob Murphy live from the CBC Tall Ships Broadcast Tent at The CBC Entertainment Pavilion (Salter lot) on the Halifax Waterfront. Wake up bright and early for Weekend Mornings on Saturday with host Bill Roach and a lineup of musical guests, broadcasting throughout the Maritimes. Don Connolly will host a live broadcast of Information Morning to wrap up our radio programming on Monday morning. The radio shows are free and open to the public.
CBC Kids activities will take place during the day Saturday, Sunday and Monday in Halifax and Dartmouth. This will feature the popular CBC Nova Scotia Craftivity Zone and characters Napkin Man, Bookaboo, Chirp and Dot providing fun and free activities for families.
