An early-morning fire destroyed a home in East Preston on Sunday, but no one was hurt.

Firefighters were called to the two-storey building on Brian Street shortly after 1 a.m.

Leonard McNab, a division commander for the Halifax regional fire service, says the fire was raging and responders couldn't save the home.

"It's a complete loss," he said.

No one was in the house at the time. McNab says a dog is missing.

A fire investigator was expected on the scene Sunday.

McNab says firefighters were able to prevent the flames from spreading to a mobile home next door.
