The death of a 91-year-old woman after an altercation at a Halifax seniors' home earlier this week has been ruled a homicide.
Police said Joyce Renouf fell during a dispute with a 74-year-old woman at Evan Hall on Saturday.
Renouf was sent to hospital with serious injuries and died Sunday night.
Heather Hanson, a spokeswoman at Evan Hall, described the incident as a “push and fall.” Hanson said it happened suddenly in a common area.
Evan Hall is a section of a large complex for seniors with dementia. Although they have some form of the neurological disorder, they are physically well.
Police said an autopsy showed Renouf died of complications related to the fall.
Const. Pierre Bourdages said the 74-year-old has not been arrested or taken into custody as the investigation continues.
