Dartmouth neighbourhood shocked by alleged rape
Police said a woman called 911 after a man she didn't know snuck into her home, forced her to have sex
People who live on Pondicherry Crescent in Dartmouth say they're shocked to hear a woman was allegedly raped in her home.
Police say a woman in her 40s called Saturday morning to report the incident.
She told police a man broke into her home and attacked her.
Police believe it was random, which is sounding alarm bells through the neighbourhood.
Donald Mackey lives a few doors down.
"Well I think it's terrible. I mean you know there's been a lot going on lately in various parts of the city but when it's in your own neighbourhood you sort of wake up," he said.
Police are still looking for a suspect.
He's described as a white man, between 40 and 45 years old, approximately six foot one and over 220 pounds with short dark hair.
"I think it’s kind of scary, I also live alone, it’s a little frightening. But I have dogs so they would make a lot of noise if someone was around," said Linda LaChambre.
