A 48-year-old man from Dartmouth was taken to hospital after being Tasered by police.
At 7:20 p.m. Sunday, police were called about a man who said he had a gun and wanted to shoot someone.
Police then surrounded an apartment building on Albro Lake Road.
Halifax Regional Police Staff Sgt. Bill Morris said when the man came outside,he would not listen to police. He said that’s when they used a stun gun.
"It was deployed, I don't know if it actually struck him. It was a bit windy out and the distance between the officer … it was deployed, and then the officers went ‘hands on’ with the male and the male was taken to the ground that way too," said Morris.
"He kept coming at officers and not listening to them."
Morris describes the man's injuries as “undetermined,” but he is expected to survive.
Police say they found a replica handgun inside the apartment.
There's no word, yet, on what charges the man will face.
