Dartmouth man facing charges of child luring
19-year-old accused of crimes against 12-year-old American girl
A 19-year-old Dartmouth man is facing charges after allegedly sharing sexually explicit images online with a 12-year-old girl from the U.S.
On May 26, Halifax Regional Police received information from authorities in the U.S. that a 19-year-old Dartmouth man was sharing images of a sexual nature with a 12-year-old girl from Maryland.
After further investigation by the Integrated Internet Child Exploitation Unit, police executed a search warrant on July 11 at an apartment on Joseph Young Street in Dartmouth.
They seized computer equipment and arrested a 19-year-old man at the scene.
The man is facing charges of possessing child pornography, invitation to sexual touching and three counts of luring a child. All charges are related to the same victim.
The man is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Aug. 12.
He was released on the following conditions until his day in court:
- He may not communicate with children under the age of 16.
- He may not possess a device able to access the internet.
- He may not be within 50 metres of a place frequented by children.
