Police have charged a 47-year-old Dartmouth man with possession of child pornography.

A 47-year-old Dartmouth man is facing a child pornography charge after investigators searched a home early Thursday morning and seized computer equipment.

The investigation was spearheaded by the Internet Child Exploitation unit, an integrated team made up of Halifax Regional Police and RCMP officers.

Officers searched a home on Sarnia Avenue around 6:30 a.m.

They arrested one man, charging him possession of child pornography. He has been released from custody and is due in Dartmouth provincial court on Dec. 31.

The conditions of his release forbid him from communicating with anyone under 16 years of age and from being within 25 metres of a place frequented by children.

He’s also not allowed to access the Internet, or have a device that can go online.
