Cyclists ride for Johanna Dean, who was killed on bike
Dartmouth streets had dozens of riders to remember cyclist killed last week
Cyclists will ride the streets of Dartmouth, N.S., Wednesday afternoon to remember a woman killed last week.
Johanna Dean, an elementary school teacher, was hit while cycling on Windmill Road at Albro Lake Road. She died at the scene.
In her obituary, her family describes the 30-year-old as "beautifully charming, intelligently warm, vibrantly spirited, caring and a lovely young lady."
The Halifax Cycling Coalition gathered riders at the Dartmouth Sportsplex parking lot Wednesday evening.
The route went along Thistle Street, south on Wyse Road to Windmill Road and then along Windmill to the site of the crash.
It will concluded with riders placing a "ghost bike" in her memory. It's a white-painted bike erected as a roadside memorial.
The coalition asked riders to wear bright clothing.
