A man is in hospital after a three-vehicle crash Thursday morning in Glace Bay involving a motorcycle, a school bus and a third vehicle.

Const. Shaun McLean, one of the investigators, said the crash happened around 8:30 Thursday morning.

“On Dominion Street, [the school bus] stopped to pick up a child. There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the collision. A motorcycle had stopped behind the bus and the motor vehicle, the car, had struck the bus from behind which caused a chain reaction and caused the motorcycle to strike the bus,” he said.

McLean said it was the school bus driver's first stop, otherwise there would have been children on board.

He said the motorcycle was sandwiched between the car and the bus but the rider did not sustain life-threatening injuries.

Police are still investigating. It’s not clear whether charges will be laid.
