Nova Scotia RCMP are investigating a stabbing near Cole Harbour District High School that sent a 15-year-old boy to hospital on Monday.

Officers were called to a pathway near the high school around 2 p.m., about 15 minutes after school was let out.

Police said the teenage victim was hurt and they think he was stabbed.

He was taken to the Dartmouth General Hospital with serious injuries. Police said he was not a student at Cole Harbour District High School.

The suspect fled the scene.

“We are looking for what we believe are the people that were involved in the altercation.  Who did what or who is responsible, that's still a matter for the police to determine,” said Cpl. Scott MacRae.

Police recovered what appeared to be a knife sheath from the scene, reported the CBC’s Blair Rhodes.
