Fire at 1 Nestor Crescent

A garage was destroyed and two nearby homes had their siding melted after a fire on Nestor Crescent in Cole Harbour according to Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency.

No one was injured in the fire.

Firefighters were called to the area around 4:25 p.m. on Saturday. When they arrived the garage was engulfed in flames.

"It was sort of impinging on two residents," said division commanders Brad Connors.

"Crews made a fast attack on the garage and knocked the fire down and protected the two houses. Then they went in and checked for residents in the homes and make sure everybody was okay."

Connors said firefighters were lucky to get the fire out so quickly.

"It turned out that way just because of the good work of the crews in station 17, 18, and 13, without that it could have been worse. It could had been probably a garage and two houses burned down, but the guys did a great job."

Fire investigators are still trying to determine what caused the fire.
