The Citadel High School girls basketball team has won its 100th consecutive game after scoring the provincial title Saturday afternoon.
Citadel beat Horton High School 59 to 50 at the tournament in Sydney Mines, N.S. The win caps a remarkable run that’s lasted three years. The eight seniors on the team haven’t lost a game in their high school careers.
Team coach Nadeem Marson said Saturday morning that it will be a "a very exciting day." He said the seniors on the team want to go out with a win and "this is for all the marbles."
"It’s definitely a big deal for the girls," he said. "Big deal for anybody."
Grade 12 student Tyleigha Nelson said Friday afternoon that the team has to remain focused as they try to reach the major milestone.
"It’s huge. We have to definitely keep our head in the game and keep focused," she said. "We can’t come in just expecting to win, we have to work for that."
