Children hit by car in Glace Bay still in hospital
Cape Breton police say drugs, alcohol likely not factors in collision
Two children remain at a Halifax hospital after they were struck by a car in Glace Bay on Friday.
Cape Breton Regional Police said the boy, 8, is in critical condition, while the girl, 11, is in serious condition.
The siblings were struck while they were crossing Main Street near St. Anne's Church at about 10 p.m.
Police said they were near a crosswalk and one of them was on a bicycle.
Staff Sgt. Ken O'Neill said the traffic safety unit is analyzing the scene.
"They'll put that all together with any potential witnesses and people who were at the scene and put a package together and make a decision on where the investigation will go," he said.
The driver is a 64-year-old man.
No charges have been laid. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision, O'Neill said.
