Charges laid in Gottingen Street stabbing
Stun gun used to control suspect
Charges have been laid against a 58-year-old woman after an early morning stabbing on Gottingen Street Wednesday, say Halifax police.
Roxanne Barton of Halifax is charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, two counts of possession of a dangerous weapon and two counts of breaching a court order.
She is being held in custody and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court on Thursday.
A 68-year-old man was stabbed early Wednesday morning at an apartment in the 2,400 block of Gottingen Street, said Halifax Regional Police.
The man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries after being stabbed. Barton fled the scene before police arrived but was found as she exited the building carrying a knife.
Police said a stun gun was deployed to control her.
In a statement, police said another man, 54, reported he was assaulted by Barton in a similar manner, although no injuries were reported in that incident.
