Chandlers' drops crematorium plan for Liverpool
Funeral home withdraws application after backlash
Chandlers' Funeral Services has dropped plans for a crematorium in Liverpool, N.S., after a public backlash.
It wanted to build a facility downtown off Main Street. The area is near homes and some residents objected.
The funeral home withdrew its application Friday.
Spokesman Kevin Samuels said they never intended to create controversy. He said 75 per cent of families in Queen's County choose cremation for their loved ones, but the nearest facility is a half hour away in Bridgewater.
