Cape Breton infant assault case plea expected in May
Roderick Francis Googoo charged with aggravated assault of baby girl
A Cape Breton man will be back in court in May on charges of aggravated assault on an infant more than a year ago.
Roderick Francis Googoo, 25, is accused of inflicting life-threatening injuries on a six-week-old baby in November 2012.
Nova Scotia RCMP say the attack on the little girl happened at a home in Eskasoni and left the young girl with severe injuries. The investigation began when staff at the Mi'kmaq Family and Children's Services contacted police following a report from the IWK Health Centre about the baby girl's injuries.
The child was put in the care of Child Welfare Services in Halifax.
Googoo will appear in court in Eskasoni to enter a plea on the charge on May 13.
