Cape Breton crash kills 1, injures 2

One man is dead and two other people are injured after two vehicles collided on Louisbourg Highway in Cape Breton Wednesday afternoon.

A 75-year-old man is dead and two other people were injured in what appears to be a head-on crash Wednesday evening on Louisbourg Highway in Cape Breton.

The man who died is from the Louisbourg area and was alone in his car. His name has not been released.

A man and a woman in the other vehicle were taken to Cape Breton Regional Hospital. One was released and the other stayed in hospital overnight. Both are from the Halifax area.

Cape Breton Regional Police Staff Sgt. Kevin Dowe said the highway might have been a little wet, but road conditions don't appear to be a factor in the crash.

"Our traffic unit is investigating alongside with our forensic identification unit," he said.

The crash happened at about 5:30 p.m. near Morrison Road, southeast of Sydney.
