Nova Scotia RCMP say a Middle River, N.S., man is dead after the truck he was in rolled off a dirt road along the Cabot Trail Friday night, ejecting all three occupants from the vehicle.

RCMP from Ingonish Beach, Inverness, Baddeck and Cheticamp were called to Highland Road in James Barren around 7:30 p.m.

They say a 59-year-old man, 53-year-old female and a 45-year-old man, all from Middle River, were taken to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

The 59-year-old man later died from his injuries. Police say the other two have serious injuries.

Investigators say the truck left the road and then rolled.

They still don't know what caused the crash but police say it appears the victims were not wearing seatbelts.
