Burnside jail inmate stabbed in his sleep: Halifax police
2 men sent to hospital
Two inmates at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility are in hospital today after one of them allegedly stabbed the other while he slept.
Halifax police say a 45-year-old man crept into the cell of a 23-year-old inmate around 8:45 a.m. on Sunday and began stabbing him "with some type of sharp object."
A group of other inmates witnessed it and then began to attack the 45-year-old inmate, say investigators.
Police say the 23–year–old has a number of lacerations, but none are life threatening. They said the older man has several stab wounds and other serious injuries but he's expected to recover.
Halifax police say they're looking into the incident.
