Burnside jail guard injured in inmate attack
Provincial government supposed to report incidents within 24 hours
A guard at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Burnside was injured and remains off work after being attacked by an inmate last week, the provincial government said Thursday.
The provincial government only acknowledged the attack after Justice Minister Lena Diab was asked about the incident by a reporter after a cabinet session on Thursday.
There is a policy that obliges authorities to report such incidents within 24 hours.
Diab said her department is looking into why that didn't happen.
